Adventure Aquarium in New Jersey announced the birth of an African penguin chick

On January 5, an African penguin chick emerged from its egg at the Adventure Aquarium in New Jersey, United States.

Keepers say that the baby penguin was born to mother Minnie and dad Kamikaze, and that it currently looks more like a ball of fluff and less like its parents.

The caretakers who have had the chance to examine the chick say that it is in good health, and surprisingly active and vocal.

They have even managed to put in on a scale and say that, at birth, it weighed about 2.5 ounces (72 grams). However, they have not yet determined whether it is a boy or a girl, Zoo Borns reports.

Since they first fell in love with one another, Minnie and Kamikaze have delivered 7 baby penguins, including this one.

Three of them, Myer, Jack, and Jambo, still live at the Adventure Aquarium. The other three have been sent to similar facilities across the United States.
