Don’t have enough smartwatches to be considering? A new start-up company called BLOCKS is looking to put an atypical spin on how we perceive and use smartwatches.

BLOCKS is taking cues from Google’s Project Ara, meaning the company wants to differentiate itself from Samsung, Sony and the like, by offering a smartwatch that’s fully modular and customizable.

The device is still a prototype, but judging by the way things look now, users will be able to change basically everything about the smartwatch’s looks and insides.

Imagine how fun it would be to be able to have a say when it comes to color, screen size and even what apps you get to have installed.

On top of that, users will be allowed to go even further, be able to opt between adding multiple displays with LED or E-ink technology. Basically imagination will be the limited with the BLOCKS smartwatch.

If the idea of having a modular smartwatch appeals to you, you should know this is just a good concept on paper, at the moment. AndroidWolrd reports the device is currently in its crowd-funding stage that will end later this year.

In the eventuality the project proves to be successful, Blocks will make it on the market in mid-2015, costing just $150 /
