For those of you looking to broaden your general knowledge, BCC has just launched the iWonder app compatible with both tablets and laptops, designed in an interactive fashion and bundling original video and audio content curated by experts.

Currently iWonder offers eight guides focused on World War 1 and popular BBC talents Dan Snow, Kate Adie and Neil Oliver have been brought on board of the project to present the information and try to answer questions like “How did so many soldiers survive the trenches?” (via Digitalspy).

“I’m fascinated by the tales of trench warfare. We hear a lot about how soldiers died, so I wanted my iWonder guide to take an in-depth look at how soldiers survived the trenches. The new format gives me the opportunity to present a view on this subject in an engaging and innovative way,” confesses Snow.

BBC will continue to add further subjects from fields like science, natural history, arts, religion and ethics throughout 2014. All iWonder content is free of charge in the UK, so those who are thirsty for knowledge should go for it.
