Axiotron, the only maker of Mac tablets on the market, has announced that orders for the newly unveiled ModBook Pro have cruised past the $3.2 million mark. Currently, the ModBook Pro is scheduled for worldwide release in June 2009.

Axiotron's business is to take Apple MacBooks apart and turn them into Mac tablets that are controlled solely via a touchscreen interface. As a high-tech hardware provider, the company also includes software with the mods in order to make the solution a useful one.

According to Axiotron, the ModBook Pro “reimagines the tablet computing experience.” The 15.4-inch Modbook Pro is the world’s fastest and largest-screen tablet computer. Showcased at the Macworld Expo in San Francisco in January, the new ModBook sports a sleek black enclosure, flush-bezel mounted screen, powerhouse graphics processing capabilities and revolutionary Synergy Touch technology.

A notable difference between the original Apple MacBook Pro model and Axiotron's Pro ModBook is the user-replaceable battery. The ModBook Pro's battery (although probably not as durable as Apple's) is “easily accessible on the bottom of the device,” and “provides power,” according to Axiotron.

“We are very gratified at the enthusiastic reception for the Modbook Pro,” said Axiotron CEO Andreas E. Haas. “These purchase orders are a validation of our team’s hard work in developing the Modbook Pro and demonstrate the value the market places on product innovation.”

Axiotron also announced yesterday having engaged Toronto, Ontario-based investment dealer Fraser Mackenzie Limited as the lead agent to raise up to $5 million in a private placement of convertible debentures. Axiotron is dedicated to becoming a leading high-tech innovator through the conception and development of intriguing digital lifestyle products. It also offers its product development expertise to companies in need of custom hardware solutions.
