Our current obsession with cats is escalating to the point that one has to wonder whether we’re living in Ancient Egypt.

Open up a browser and navigate to your favorite social media website, what do you see? Cats. Check e-mail? More cute kitties. What about humorous websites like 9gag or Imgur? Yup, you’ve guessed it, even more ridiculously adorable kittens and pussy-cats.

To make the point more evident, cats have even been turned into super popular patterns for clothing accessories. Just step onto popular fashonista website Lookbook to see hundreds of pretty girls boasting sweaters and miniskirts with one motif on them – kitty cats.

Axent Wear wants to help you get in touch with your inner feline

The creators of Axent Wear have picked up on this kitty mania (they would be fools not to) and have come up with an idea. They can make you look like a cat, even as you listen to your favorite music tunes.

Axent Wear is actually a piece of headphones shaped like cat ears. But the catch is they are also outfitted with LED lights of various colors that will glow and make you stand out (in a good or bad way, depending on the taste of the beholder).

Axent Wear places emphasis on design and the fact that you won’t be able to find kitty ears as these anywhere else. Nonetheless, if they prove successful, we’re pretty sure we’ll be witnessing an avalanche of animal-shaped headphones for those who prefer looking like a dog or a lion.

As for the speakers per se, they are bundled with 40mm drivers and can sustain a range of 20Hz to 20KHz in frequency response.

Axent Wear won't pick up sound but produce it

So don’t expect any breakthrough in audio technology or any mention of big names from the sound industry. What you see is what you get – basically, a plain set of headphones that look like colored cat ears.

But wait, hold that thought, there’s something more to these cat ears. Apparently, they can produce sound. Actually, the ears double as loud speakers, so if you want to share the tune you are just listening to with your friends, you can do just that.

The headphones are offered with blue, red, green, purple and a custom LED options. Note that the Axent Wear aren’t Bluetooth-enabled, so they connect with a removable 3.5 mm audio jack and built-in mic.

The kitty headphones are currently up on Indiegogo, and if you’re willing to pledge $150 / €118, they can be yours someday. The funding goal has already been reached, so the future looks pretty bright.

Are you ready to meow?
