Season 2 of MTV’s hit series “Awkward” has just wrapped on a very high note: Jenna (Ashley Rickards), the witty, funny and very direct protagonist, has finally made her choice. To find out whether she chose Team Jake or Team Matty, read on.

*Fans who have not seen the season 2 finale yet are encouraged not to read any further than this – major spoilers ahead.*

After two very troubled years, the second more troubled than the first, “Awkward” saw the adorable Jenna faced with a situation she once did not even imagine possible, that of choosing between two, near-perfect, totally different guys: Jake (Brett Davern) and Matty (Beau Mirchoff).

One is the good guy who is also her best friend, while the other is the school jock whom she fancied since day one.

A decision must obviously be made, which is precisely what happened on the season 2 finale last night.

Yes, Jenna chose Matty, so Team Jake loses.

Speaking of the need to make a choice (emphasis ours), Ashley Richards admitted in a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter that both she and the producers of the show knew fans would not have it any other way.

“If she picked neither, there's a very strong chance that I will be murdered within the following 48 hours after it aired from Team Matty or Team Jake fans,” the actress explained.

“They would find me and hurt me in a big way. [Laughs] If that were to happen, it'd be an interesting place to go for Jenna to pick neither,” she conceded.

As for how Jenna would reach her decision, Richards pointed out the obvious: as with everything else with this girl, this too was very complicated.

“As always, Jenna struggles with how much to be private and how much does she want be public. We leave episode 11 with her leaving a private phone call to somebody she knew was right, that she was following her gut on,” the actress explained.

“She did what was right for her right at that moment. I'm under the firm philosophy that as long as you do what's best in that moment, you'll never have any regrets. If you do have any regrets in the future about your past, you have to remember that right then, it was what you wanted,” she added.
