And here we thought that 2500 – 2800 MHz was an ambitious range

Avexir could have made a new set of memory modules clocked at DDR3-2800 MHz, or even 2500 MHz, and called it a day, but it wanted to really make an impression, so it went with 3200 MHz instead.

Well, kind of. The new memory range, called Blitz 1.1 Red Dragon, does include slower modules, as slow as 1600 MHz.

Well, technically, 1600 MHz is already above average speed, since normal DDR3 random access memory, especially the type used in laptops, operates at 1333 MHz.

So we can safely say that the newcomers are firmly entrenched in the higher echelons of the top-tier memory industry.

In fact, the RAM made such an impression that MSI (Micro-Star International) went to the trouble of declaring it ideal for its high-end mainboards, like the MSI Z87 - GD65 Gaming, MSI Z87 - GD45 Gaming, and MSI Z77A - GD65 Gaming.

Since we're on the subject of specifications, we may as well go into further detail. Besides, people likely to buy such beastly powerful RAM probably know more than the usual about computer parts.

For one, the Avexir Blitz 1.1 Red Dragon DDR3 Series memory modules have CAS latency timings of CL9 (at 1600 MHz) to CL13 (at 3200 MHz).

They all have heatspreaders (colored black with red dragon painted on them, in keeping with the theme) and a pulsing effect.

Which is to say, the heatspreaders have LEDs inside, which makes the red pulse, adding to the allure of the system at night.

Assuming you have a side-window through which to see inside the computer that is. If you don't, then you'll have to do without the occasional admiring glance.

Moving on, the Avexir Blitz 1.1 Red Dragon DDR3 Series comes in 1.5V and 1.65V, but all modules are Intel XMP 1.3 certified and are 100% factory tested in Intel- and AMD-based motherboards.

Other features include a black PCB (fitting with the heatspreader) and a black box holding everything within. Sadly, neither the product page, nor the press release was kind enough to provide the price of the new memory range.

Fortunately, retailers had no compunctions about revealing that last detail. So we can say that the price tags range from €99.90 / $99.90 to $354.90 / €354.90.

The gap is so large because Avexir is offering the new products in both dual-module and quad-module kits. Caseking is the only place where you'll find them for sale, which means that only Europeans will have access to them.
