To appease those interested in immortalizing their virtual accomplishments, whether in the area of gaming, video or audio, AVerMedia has been releasing various devices meant to increase entertainment possibilities. Now, with the AverTV High-Definition Digital Video Recorder, buyers can record HD video content from a variety of consoles.

“As more and more digital content is being viewed and accessed from a PC or laptop computer, consumers demand an all-in-one solution that gives them the ability to enjoy that content in the best video quality available on the market today,” Stephen Dix, vice president of sales, Multimedia Division at AVerMedia Information, Inc. USA, said. “With the ability to capture, record and play back any multimedia content in high definition, the new AVerTV HD DVR provides the ultimate in TV-to-PC entertainment.”

Among the devices from which the AverTV HD DVR can draw its resources are HD gaming consoles, Cable/Satellite Set-Top-Boxes and HD video recorders. The DVR can connect to any of these products and perform real-time H.264 recording. Users can record their favorite programs in a 320 x 240 resolution, and even upload and play back the same content on iPods, iPhones, PSPs or any other portable player device capable of rendering the respective file formats (MPEG 2, H.264 and iPod format). Additionally, it is possible to directly scribe the recorded media on a DVD or VCD.

A feature of the AverTV HD DVR that could be considered a plus is the incorporated AVer MediaCenter software program. With it, it is possible to program the start and finish times of TV shows transmitted through an HD Cable/Satellite Set-Top-Box, allowing for users' favorite videos to be stored as HD files on their PCs, even when not at home. No longer must TV enthusiasts hurry back home to catch reruns. With a few simple commands, the reasons to brood over missing your favorite shows are swept away.

The gadget also has a very appealing feature for players, namely the possibility to record the ongoing game progress. It is now possible to record gaming successes, instead of them remaining mere pleasant memories, and the obvious possibility for online distribution allows for a simpler sharing of game progress, puzzle solutions and tactics. The 1080i RAW HD video-data transfer that the device can achieve in real time will surely satisfy any such enthusiast.

The AverTV HD DVR is available at a retail price of around $100. Detailed information concerning this and other AverMedia products may be found here.
