AVerMedia has just announced the introduction of a new PCI Express capture card, specially designed to be used by PC and console gamers in order to record and broadcast their in-game achievements live, without having to rely of software capture apps or other more outrageous solutions.

This new card is called the Live Gamer HD and was designed in order to use the PCI Express x1 interface for communicating with the host PC.

Once installed inside the system, the card can be connected to your console or PC via the rear HDMI input, but it can also work with PCs that only feature DVI outputs, as it comes bundled with DVI to HDMI cable dongle.

Images are then encoded in real time thanks to the specialized hardware installed on the card in the H.264 format, at 30fps Full HD (1080p) resolution.

Besides the capture card itself, AVerMedia also supplies users with a set of proprietary software programs to add commentary to the recorded video, as well as with a dedicated record button.

Furthermore, the Live Gamer HD also enables its users to stream out their live game content on TwitchTV or USTREAM by using the RECentral software.

Together with the capture card and the DVI to HDMI dongle, the Live Gamer HD package also includes an HDMI to DVI cable, the special record button, and a 3.5mm audio cable.

The minimum system requirements for capturing real time HD video in the H.264 format calls for an Intel core 2 Duo 2.4GHz or AMD Athlon64 X2 2.8GHz CPU.

No details regarding the price of the Live Gamer HD were provided, but VR-Zone seems to believe that the capture card will be more expensive than the $169 (about 127 EUR) Game Broadcaster HD, introduced by the company in December last year.
