They will leave perfectly clean sand in their wake

Trash is not fun, no matter where you run into it. Trash on the beach can be especially annoying though, just like in any other place intended for recreation. Fortunately, Dr. Recare is on the case.

Or at least will be if Mingyu Jeong has her way. The designer isn't more of a fan of garbage-filled beaches than any other of us.

Unlike most of us, though, she has the means to come up with a way to solve the problem. She'll need help of her own, particularly on the mass production side, but the idea is all hers.

And that idea was to create a special robot or machine that could gather up all the garbage and put it to better use immediately. It goes to show just how much 3D printing technology is already affecting mankind and the way we think.

Dr. Recare is putting his gloves on

Figuratively speaking only. Dr. Recare isn't actually a doctor. Instead, it is a robot, of sorts, or a car with some robotic parts, whose role is to prowl the beaches and clean them up.

It does this, or will do this, by extracting the plastic in the sand, heating it up and using it as filament to create recycling bins in its wake.

A pretty ingenious way to get rid of the most widespread and annoying pollutant, while also exploiting humans' tendency to feel guilt when so blatantly confronted with the fact that littering is, in fact, not awesome.

It doesn't even have to be littering. Enough garbage washed up on the shore that we could probably indict every other yacht and ship owner in the world. Well, it might be an exaggeration, but the point stands.

Various beaches, even those from Florida, usually end up being literally covered in tons of garbage every spring. Concerts and festivals have been postponed and even canceled because of this.

All told, we're pretty sure that the Dr. Recare would be a hit if anyone decided to back Mingyu Jeong's project. Seeing one or more of them crossing the sands in a few years might be a common sight even.

Availability

Sadly, we can't be sure the Dr. Recare will really take off, no matter how promising it is. Still, considering how useful it would be even just after a beach concert or the like, it would be foolish to let the idea die.
