Autodesk, Inc, the popular company behind the well-known AutoCAD and other graphic design applications, has recently announced the launch of a new contest, creations obtained by using products from the Autodesk SketchBook series.

The winning design will be integrated within the splash screen of Autodesk SketchBook Mobile, being displayed every time the product is launched. Considering the app has already been downloaded more than two million times, the winning artist will get a lot of exposure for their work.

The line of products Autodesk SketchBook is targeted at digital painting and drawing enthusiasts, and it contains a wide range of software variations.

Users can design their project using any edition that suits their preferences best, whether they use a Windows or a Macintosh computer, or a mobile device.

Autodesk currently has a SketchBook application that can be run on Apple's iPhone and iPod Touch, called Autodesk SketchBook Mobile, while the iPad owners can enjoy their own dedicated tool, Autodesk SketchBook for iPad.

Chris Bradshaw, senior vice president and chief marketing officer at Autodesk said: “SketchBook users range from creative professionals and illustrators, to artists and hobbyists.”

“We’re eager to see what the SketchBook community produces, and we hope they see this contest as an exciting opportunity to have their work recognized and featured in the spotlight,” he added.

The line of products SketchBook aims to meet the necessities of both experts and amateurs in the field of digital creation, regardless of the device they prefer: desktop, laptop or mobile handset.

In addition to the aforementioned editions for Apple's devices, Autodesk also develops SketchBook Pro for Windows and Mac, which brings the sophistication and complexity of the series to the comfort and ease-of-use of a desktop.

The newest addition to the SketchBook series is Autodesk SketchBook Designer, a tool that offers professional designers or artists the possibility to employ hybrid paint and vector workflow for their illustrations.

The contest is officially open on October 18, 2010, and the last submissions can be sent until November 14, 2010. Each participant can sign up for free and they can submit only a single image.

Finalists will be selected by Autodesk experts and the images will be available for open voting since November 30, 2010, until December 14, 2010.

After viewers have cast their votes, the official winner will be announced on December 21, 2010.
