Bulgarian authorities have made public the results of an investigation that targeted Cyber Warrior Invasion, a cybercriminal organization seen as the “most powerful hacker group in Bulgaria.”

The Ministry of Interior has revealed that officers from the country’s Cybercrime Unit and ones from the Chief Directorate for Combating Organized Crime have raided several locations from nine Bulgarian cities and seized computing systems and other electronic devices.

The group is suspected of breaching over 500 websites worldwide, including the ones of government and non-government organizations, financial institutions, and several online-based companies.

It’s believed that they’ve stolen credit card details and other sensitive information that in some cases they've used for blackmail.

Authorities have confiscated the cwi-group.org website on which the hackers coordinated their activities.

The apprehended individuals will be accused of “high-tech crimes.”
