Just recently, 24-year-old Ben Linden was killed by a great white while he was out surfing in Australia's waters. Moreover, two divers were also attacked by a shark while exploring the same region.

Therefore, most of the people living in Australia agreed that the shark population in this part of the world might have gotten out of control, and that immediate measures must be taken.

Yesterday, the country's high officials were asked to lift the ban on hunting great whites in these waters, even if this species is argued to be an endangered species and under the law's protection.

Whereas said events are indeed tragic and troubling, Martin Garwood, a marine biologist working with the Sydney Aquarium argues that everything happens because more and more humans are entering these animals' natural habitat in order to practice water sports.

The situation is indeed touch-and-go, as both public safety and wildlife preservation are major topics bound to foster considerable debates.
