Will help people try one out before committing to a purchase

3D printers have been selling pretty well, but many people still shy away from buying them because they aren't sure they'll make good or frequent enough use of them. Others might think they would grow tired of them too fast, or that the charm would not be enough to offset the ongoing filament costs.

An Australian company has the solution: 3D printers for rent! Because if it's the unknown that's making them wary, then all it takes is to eliminate that unknown. It's like renting games.

The company is called The 3D Printer (rather unimaginative, and possibly trademark lawsuit-vulnerable). It is based in Victoria, Australia.

Currently, the printers you can rent for a week are the UP Plus 2, the FlashForge Dreamer and the BEETHEFIRST. The price ranges from 100 AUD / $87 / €70 to 170 AUD / $148 / €117.

Schools get an even better deal: free trials! Which is to say, they can rent the printers for seven days at no charge. Alas, they still need to cover the shipping costs, but that's still a drop compared to the full thing.

Unless the customers are from New Zealand anyway. That's the only place in the world where shipments can be delivered, besides Australia itself.
