Weird yet nice design

The world is changing, pretty much due to the way technology is influencing our everyday lives: cars change and food changes; the way people are and live has changed and continues to do so at fast rates; music has changed and the way we listen to it has definitely known radical transformations.

From the way audio gear looks these days up to the "edge" design is but a very small step and the frontier between the two is so fragile that the "tresspassings" are not only very often met but also quite intriguing sometimes. It's the case of the Audiam Sound System, the creation of a young lady, Annekatrin Lindstedt, 24.

Nothing I've seen lately was weirder at first sight than the "expandable" sound system: it simply looked like a metal box with a very "unfinished" finish yet cool and stylish with its modelled dents and semi-glossy appearance. Some sort of portable player was docked in the front and atop of the whole system there were 4 USB thumbdrives and some additional card slots.

Now, there were absolutely no detailed specs about the Audiam gear nowhere on the web (as far as our researches did go) but from the set of pictures one could see that the metal box acts like some sort of media hub and the user can actually connect multiple storage/playback devices simultaneously.

From the rather scarce visual data, the connectivity is rather simple, relying on RCA (and possibly, an optical output). As for the supported media, the pictures are as well the only sources starting from which we could build up some speccing: as far as they depict, the Audiam will be able to handle music, text, movie and pictures.

Finally, between the PSP-like device and the master console it looks like there will be a wireless comm channel as no sockets, plugs or dock-like terminals are to be seen. Should anyone decide to create such a functional multimedia system it will be more than interesting to see how it will work. Personally, I think that its overall shape looks like a vacuum tube amplifier could perfectly suit in...
