Many video output devices, especially HDTVs, often rely on HDMI connectivity when playing video files or displaying photos stored on a PC. This fact, however, is rather limiting for those end-users who own a computer without HDMI outputs. To alleviate this issue, Atlona has come up with a special adapter, known as the AT-HDVieW, that can take VGA signals and display them out of a laptop or desktop to an HDTV or a monitor with HDMI input.

The product is an adapter with VGA, USB and a 3.5mm audio input. The USB input will deliver the power needed for the device to function, which means that the adapter will not require an external power connection. Also, the AT-HDVieW will be able to plug into a VGA port and convert the video output into HDMI. The High Quality scaler will enable the PC's resolution to be scaled to up to 1080p. This will allow images to be rendered with high levels of detail and the actual resolution can actually be further scaled to 1920 x 1200.

The length of the HDMI cable is a convenient 6 feet and the 1-foot VGA, Audio and USB cables are built into the converter itself. The Atlona AT-HDVieW will, take the video and audio signal from the PC or laptop and automatically sense the native resolution of the display. The adapter will then scale the computer's output in order to match that resolution and also take the audio signal and embed it into the HDMI signal output. This will allow consumers to enjoy both video and audio through a single cable. In addition, the AT-HDVieW is a scaler-converter, which means that it will operate both with or without adjustments to the software used by the video card.

The Atlona AT-HDVieW is already available for order and carries a price tag of $89.99. The device is backed by a 3-year warranty.
