As you might have noticed in the recent months, there has been an increasing interest in ultraportable computer systems, coming from a number of PC vendors, most of which have already updated their product portfolio with such products. MSI is one of these vendors, as the company has already introduced several new systems that are designed to provide customers with a choice for an ultraportable PC that bridges the netbook and notebook segments. On that note, the company has recently announced the introduction of its new 12.1-inch Wind U210 laptop in the US, following a previous launch in the European markets.

Part of the company's growing line of Wind portable PCs, the new U210 is an AMD-based alternative to some of the other ultraportable PCs currently available on the market, most of which are powered by Intel's CULV platform. The new MSI Wind laptop has been featured with a 12.1-inch display (1366 x 768 pixels), which is powered by the integrated ATI Radeon X1250 graphics processing unit. Inside the Wind U210 there's also a low-power 1.6GHz AMD Neo MV-40 processor, coupled with a 250GB hard drive and 2GB of DDR2 memory.

As for the laptop’s I/O connectivity, there's an HDMI port, three USB 2.0 ports, mic-in and headphone, an RJ-45 Ethernet LAN connector, a 4-in-1 memory card reader and wireless 802.11 b/g/n network support. Powered by a 6-cell battery pack, which can deliver about 4 hours of runtime, according to MSI, the Wind U210 will be available with both white and black color options.

The Wind U210 measures 7.4 x 11.7 x 1.2 inches and weighs in at 3.2 lbs, with said 6-cell battery pack. The system is already available at Amazon.com and Newegg.com, for just US$429.99.
