Japanese video game developer Gust has recently revealed that Atelier Ayesha: The Alchemist of Dusk's Wilbell voll Erslied will not only make an appearance in the upcoming Atelier Shallie but will also be a playable characters.

Following the trend set with Atelier Escha & Logi, the next iteration in the Alchemist of Dusk series will feature two young protagonists, 16-year-old Shallistera and 18-year-old Shallote, once again showing a heart-warming coming of age story.

The game is being designed around a new system called Life Task, which will be the main way for players to achieve progress through the storyline. Each task will be composed out of three separate challenges, exploration, the creation of a certain compound, and a battle.

In addition to the reveal regarding Wilbell, the company has also allowed gamers a peek at a new little friend that Shallotte and Shallistera will meet in-game, Homura. He is a homunculi treasure hunter who loves sweets and traveling across the land.

He is a fierce warrior who excels at swordsmanship, so many others in his tribe rely on his skills for protection. In addition to this, he is also a good speaker with a sharp mind, but at times he can also be a bit smug, as Siliconera points out.

Wilbell is a familiar character for long-time fans of the series, but for newcomers to the series of alchemy role-playing games, she's a bright young witch that shows genius when it comes to the art of magic.

In the upcoming third installment in the Alchemist of Dusk series, she will still look and act as silly and young as ever, still retaining her childish traits, but at the same time looking for a way in which to become an adult.

As such, she will start helping out Shallotte, who she originally mistakes for an alchemist. Shallotte, of course, starts admiring Wilbell, and the talented young witch becomes her mentor, after certain story events take place.

Atelier Shallie: Alchemists of the Dusk Sea is currently scheduled for release on July 17, for the PlayStation 3, in Japan only.

There is currently no word on whether the game will make it over to western markets, but, considering that most other titles in the series so far have made the leap, it's a safe bet to assume that Atelier Shallie will also end up in the west, a few months after its Japanese release.
