Apparently unaffected by the critical beating Alone in the Dark is enduring since launch, Atari announces the development of a new racing simulation called RACE Pro (no official explanation for the caps in the first word). The title is aimed exclusively at the Xbox 360 gaming console from Microsoft and studio SimBin, known for creating racing titles like GTR - FIA GT Racing Game and RACE 07 - Official WT Game, will handle all the production duties.

The release aims to show gamers a variety of cars, ranging from the ones which pack 200 horse power to monsters over 1 000. Muscle cars from Aston Martin and from Saleen will join the production line models such as the Audi R8 and the Dodge Viper SRT10. World Turing Championship Cars from manufacturers like Alfa Romeo, BMW, Chevrolet and Seat will be portrayed in the release, as Atari has an exclusive agreement with the WTCC to portray tracks and cars in its games.

Speaking of tracks, gamers will be able to put their cars to good use on circuits spanning over the entire world, with three circuits, those in Macau, Porto and Pau being exclusively showed in RACE Pro. Those interested in an introductory race, designed to get players accustomed to the controls and the pace of the game, can opt to play a Mini Cooper Challenge featuring the iconic car.

Multiplayer is available both via the Xbox Live service from Microsoft and by using a Hot Seat feature which lets more than one player share the controller during the race.

Cyril Voiron, vice president of brand management at Atari Worldwide Publishing, declared that "With five years worth of experience under SimBin's belt, RACE Pro ensures a unique racing experience unlike anything seen before on console. Nothing gets you closer to the ultimate racing sensation than RACE Pro and Atari is proud to add this product to our holiday line-up".

RACE Pro is expected to hit the shelves of game shops later during the fall of 2008.
