With a little help from Gearbox

You could argue that the games that Take Two presented at E3 in 2007 were some of the biggest hits of the year that has passed since then. BioShock surprised everyone when it raked up more than 2 million sold copies and a version of the game designed especially for the PlayStation 3 is currently in development and slated for an autumn release. Meanwhile, Grand Theft Auto IV was described as the most important game of the year and enjoyed very good sales, even if in some areas it was underwhelming as a videogame.

Now Take Two has opted for a low key appearance at E3 2008 with none of the flashing and the show that other companies put on for the people attending. Strauss Zelnick mentioned the excellent year the company has had and promised more interesting things for the year ahead.

But there was little in the way of breaking news in the conference. Sports games like NHL 2K and NBA 2K are getting new versions and a new installment in the Carnival Games series is coming, titled Mini Golf. But we knew this before E3. What we didn't know was the fact that BioShock is set to get some DLC in the form of "challenge rooms".

Rockstar again presented the newly-announced racer Midnight Club: Los Angeles and there was mention of the Nintendo DS game Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars, although no new information on the title was offered.

The most interesting moment in the Take Two presentation was the segment dedicated to Borderlands, which is developed by Gearbox and follows the adventures of survivors of a catastrophic event. The game is very much created with the spirit of Mad Max in mind and the demonstration that showed the co-op gameplay and the random item generation system proved to be a hit with the audience.
