14 DAY TRIAL // The tiny Eee PC introduced back in October last year has proven to be a true gold mine for the Trawanese PC manufacturer. A new version of the Eee, the 900 is about to kick in, but until then, you might want to extend the functionality of your current sub-notebook with some extras. The new accessories delivered by Asustek include mice, spare battery packs and travel chargers, and add a plus of power and convenience to the beloved Eee.
The default battery pack shipped with the sub-notebook allows the user a total autonomy of between three and 3-1/2 hours. The newly introduced battery comes in 6-cell packs and will give you an extra hour of working time while on road. It is currently listed with pre-order availability on Asustek's partners' website with an estimative price of $99.
The United States market will soon get a complete accessory pack that includes a travel adapter, a car power charger, a screen shield as well as a black leather casing to host the Eee sub-notebook. The AC adapter is especially designed for the Eee users who travel mostly abroad, and it ships with additional heads to match the standard specifications for Europe, North America and Asia, while the car charger will let you connect the Eee PC to any standard 12-24-volt cigarette lighter socket. The pack will start shipping on March 19 for as much as $127.95.
Another adapter will be shipped by Incipio Technologies, which will include the basic travel adapter, car charger as well as an airplane charger. The pack will also include interchangeable heads to match international power standards. The pack is currently available on the manufacturer's website for a much lower price: just $39.99.
If you are constantly traveling in a car (on the passenger's seat' of course), you can now mount your Eee PC on either the car seat, or on the cup-holder. Mount Guys is currently selling anti-shock and easy-to-install holders with velcro strips that don't require any modifications to the car. The cup holder mount sells for $16,88, while the Car Floor, Seat Bolt Mount Kit can be purchased for $18.69.
Last but not least, you can carry your Eee with style in a Proporta Gadget Bag, that comes with padded compartments to shield your sub-notebook from bumps and scratches. The bag is available immediately, for as much as $48.
