Asus announced that its Zenfone 2 high-end smartphone would go on sale in North America on May 19. The company confirmed that the device would be available in the United States via major retailers across the country, including Amazon, Newegg and Groupon.

As expected, Asus Zenfone 2 will be available in Canada as well. The good news is Asus confirmed the smartphone would go on sale at the same time as the US version.

This means that customers in Canada will be able to pick the Zenfone 2 up starting May 19. The prices are slightly different, but that's unavoidable since we're talking about different currency.

So, the cheaper version of Zenfone 2 will cost only $249 CAD, while the more expensive model will be available for purchase for $379 CAD.

Both versions of Asus Zenfone 2 will be available in red, black, as well as grey and silver. They will be sold unlocked since Asus hasn't teamed up with any Canadian carrier.

For the time being, we know both Zenfone 2 models come with support for LTE Cat4 (150Mbps), but AWS support has been confirmed yet so WIND Mobile customers might want to wait for confirmation on compatibility.

Processor and memory make the difference

There aren't too many differences between the two Asus Zenfone 2 models, but they are very important, hence the big price gap.

The cheaper version of Zenfone 2 is equipped with a 1.8GHz quad-core Intel Atom Z3560 processor, which is complemented by 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory.

The more expensive model has a 2.3GHz quad-core Intel Atom Z3580 processor, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. Both smartphones are packed with microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 64GB).

It's also worth mentioning that both smartphones run Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system with Asus ZenUI on top.
