Together with the stock versions of the Turks graphics cards announced earlier today, Asus has also introduced a factory overclocked version of the Radeon HD 6670, which packs an updated cooling solution and support for AMD's Eyefinity technology.

The card is called the EAH6670/DIS/1GD5 and compared with its non-overclocked HD 6670 features a redesigned printed circuit board (PCB) that was painted black as well as a revised cooling system.

This uses a large black and red plastic shroud that spreads the airflow of the fan over the entire PCB of the card.

Asus says that the fan features a dust-proof design which dissipates heat efficiently and can extend the card's lifespan by 25%, while the “Super Alloy” VRM offers a 15% performance boost and 35°C cooler operation.

All these changes should allow for improved overclocking headroom, but finding the maximum frequencies the card can reach is up to the user as Asus has clocked the GPU only 10MHz higher than AMD's reference design.

The memory frequency has been left untouched as the 4GB of GDDR5 video buffer work at 1000MHz (4GHz data rate).

In addition to the improved PCB design and cooling solution, the Asus EAH6670/DIS/1GD5 also received an updated I/O port configuration and it now features dual-link DVI, DisplayPort and HDMI connectors.

Thanks to this change, the card is Eyefinity compatible and can support up to three independent displays.

No details regarding pricing and availability were disclosed by Asus at this point, but a quick online search revealed that the EAH6670/DIS/1GD5 should be priced at $112.37 US.

The Radeon HD 6670 is AMD's latest mainstream card and is based on the Turks core which packs 480 streaming units, 24 texturing units, 8 ROP units and a 128-bit memory bus. The load TDP is estimated at 66W and the card draws all its power from the PCI Express slot.
