14 DAY TRIAL // Asus revealed one more laptop named U3 that comes with a 13.3 inch widescreen, combining computing power and the latest technologies with style and ease of transportation. Aimed at the high end users, the U3 comes with a polished magnesium aluminum alloy housing with stainless contour and a leather bound palm rest.
According to the Asus press release concerning the U3 laptop, this machine combines beauty with simple and clean lines, while the stainless contour gives it a strong appearance. The display features a 13.3-inch screen that combines the mobility of a typical 12 inch with the ease and comfort of a 14-inch screen. As an additional feature, Asus implemented its proprietary Splendid Color Enhancement Engine that makes colors more vivid and detail sharper.
The entire stylish external design is backed up by the latest mobile computing technologies like Intel's Centrino platform that supports Intel Core 2 Duo processors. Users may choose from different Core 2 Duo processors (T7500, T7300, T7100, T5450, T5250 and CM540) and create their dream laptop based on their specific needs. The Intel chipset that backs up the Core 2 Dou processor is the GM965, that also supports an integrated video solution, while the connectivity issue is addressed by the presence of the Intel 4965 a/b/g/n, 3945 a/b/g wireless network chips. For users desiring a high level of graphics performance in the latest 3D games and application, Asus included the discrete graphics card Nvidia GeForce G8400M G External that comes with 128MB of dedicated video memory. The Nvidia memory sharing technology Turbo Cache is also supported and the system memory can be expanded to reach 2560MB of DDR2 memory running at a clock speed of 667MHz.
Storage space is very unlikely to be a problem for U3's users as the laptop comes with a SATA hard disk drive that sports an impressive 160GB of storage capacity. Like any other modern day laptop, the U3 comes with HDMI, eSATA, USB and VGA ports for easy integration with other systems. Apart from the wireless networking card implemented by the Intel chipset, U3 has a wired RJ45 connector too as well as a FireFire 1394 jack. Built for use while on the move, the Asus U3 notebook weighs only 1.75kg with a 3-cell battery pack.
