Those of you tired of waiting for Asus to come out with the official update to Android 4.0, aka Ice Cream Sandwich, for the original Transformer tablet have now a reason to rejoice as the open source community has managed to port ICS to this device.

The YouTube video above, spotted by The verge, shows Asus' tablet running a port of Ice Cream Sandwich which appears to be in quite some advanced development stages.

The users who made Android 4.0 run on the original Transformer got the touchscreen, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth to work as well as the ICS zippy web browser.

GPS and other sensors are also functioning, but the system still can't use them for rotating the screen or other more advanced tasks.

Audio also isn't supported so this port is not for everyone, but it surely looks like we are getting nearer to a fully working version of Android 4.0 for the Asus Transformer.
