Asus has officially launched its Transformer Book Trio in Australia. Aiming to entice holiday shoppers, the PC vendor will start shipping the hybrid in late November for AUD$1,599 / $1,537 / €1,113 a pop, Ausdroid says.

The Transformer Book Trio offers some interesting specifications, but what’s more likely to draw in the attention of customers is the way it can be used. The device can be turned either into an Android tablet or a Windows 8 laptop.

The keyboard is more versatile than most you have seen so far. It can be attached to an external monitor by virtue of the microHDMI or Mini DisplayPort and, voila, you get to enjoy a desktop experience as well.

In tablet mode, Asus has slipped an Intel Atom Z2760 processor, coupled with 2GB of RAM. On the other hand, in notebook mode the Transformer Book Trio functions via an Intel Core i5 CPU with 4GB of RAM.

The hybrid will offer users access to the extensive Google Play Store and Windows Store as well.

The Transformer Book Trio will probably start appearing in online retail locations and it looks like Scorptec will be one of the first ones to offer it. The device will ship with Asus’ premium “giftbox style” packaging.
