After a series of rumors reported that Asus has delayed the US availability of the Transformer Prime for January of 2012, the outfit came out with an official response to reconfirm the tablets December 19 retail date.

This is definitely good news for all those of you who have been keenly waiting for the Prime to hit the streets.

The only sad part is that if you haven’t pre-ordered your Asus tablet until now, there’s a very thin chance to actually be able to track one down, as most online retails have already sold out the 10.1-incher.

For those of you that don’t know, pricing for this quad-core Nvidia Tegra 3 powered tablet is set at $499 (about 370 EUR) for the 32GB version.

Together with this confirmation, Asus also published its own video unboxing of the Transformer Prime, which we have included right above this post for your viewing pleasure.
