Asus will soon update it Eee PC netbook product family with a new design called the 1015BX which is based on AMD's C-Series accelerated processing unit and provides users with both portability and a “stylish” design.

The Asus Eee PC 1015BX notebook is built around a 10.1-inch LED-backlit screen, which uses a rather low 1024x600 resolution, and is reportedly powered by a 9W AMD Ontario series C-50 APU.

This includes two processing cores based on the x86 Bobcat architecture, which come clocked at 1GHz, as well as an on-die graphics core called the Radeon HD 6250 hat operates at 280MHz and features DX11 support.

In addition, the integrated GPU also comes with AMD's UVD3 media decoding engine, which provides hardware acceleration for Full HD video streams.

The standard configuration of the Eee PC 1015BX pairs AMD's APU with 1GB of system memory (upgradeable to 2GB) and users can choose from a variety of hard drive options, topping with a 500GB unit. Asus also provides 3GB of additional web storage.

On the connectivity front, consumers will get pretty much all the features that come standard these days, including 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi, 10/100 LAN, and Bluetooth (2.1 or 3.0) support.

Around the edges of the netbook Asus has placed two USB ports, one of them working at USB 3.0 speeds, a VGA video output as well as an HDMI port for connecting the Eee PC 1015BX to an external monitor or TV set. A webcam is installed in the top display bezel.

Asus will be offering the 1015BX with two battery pack options, a 3-cell 2200mAh unit, which has an autonomy of about three hours, and with a 6-cell 5200mAh option that should be able to power the netbook for about 7.5 hours.
