Asus had on display at Computex a new VX6 12-inch gaming laptop that includes many of the features of its predecessor, but it now comes with an upgraded graphics unit that is based on an AMD Radeon core.

On a first look, the notebook seems identical with the previous Lamborghini VX6 notebook, but Asus has refined the design a bit as the laptop now sports a leather covered palm rest.

This sort of feature was reserved until recently for more expensive models, but it seems that Asus also plans to introduce it in the VX6-series.

The real changes however are found on the inside, and Asus claims the notebook will be updated from the Intel Atom D525 processor and Nvidia ION graphics, found inside the VX6, to a “new Intel Atom NM10 processor” and AMD Radeon HD 6470M GPU.

Since there isn't such a thing as an Atom NM10 processor (the NM10 is actually the chipset used by Intel's Atom CPUs), Asus may be hinting that the notebook will be powered by the upcoming Cedar Trail Atom processors (these too use the NM10 chipset).

The rest of the Lamborghini VX6S hardware specifications include, 2GB of DDR3 memory (upgradeable to 4GB), a 500GB hard drive, Bluetooth and Wireless N connectivity, a card reader, and a built-in webcam.

The battery uses a 6-cell design (58Wh) and the 12.1-inch LED backlit screen sports a native resolution of 1366x768.

When it designed the Lamborghini VX6S, Asus also included a Bang & Olufsen ICEpower sound system, which should deliver high-quality audio.

The laptop that was on display at the Computex 2011 fair is just a prototype of the final design and Asus hasn't said when will this reach retail. Pricing is also an unknown at this point in time. (via NetbookLive)
