Dual-coolers and four DVI connectors

Asus is taking the official release of Advanced Micro Devices' Radeon HD 3870 X2 very seriously and has cooked two special editions of the gigantic video card: the R.O.G. Radeon HD 3870 X2. Also known as the EAH3870X2/G/3DHTI/1G and EAH3870X2/G/HTDI/1G, the two graphics cards come with two RV680 GPUs each as well as 1GB of on-board memory.

The EAH3870X2/G/3DHTI/1G features the fastest GDDR3 memory chips with a latency of 0.8 nanoseconds and tow additional DVI connectors, should you ever feel the urge to connect four displays at the same time. One more interesting feature is the dual-fan, dual-heatsink design that ensures proper dissipation of heat along the two RV80 graphics cores. The new design is more efficient than the stock cooler, since the latter would push the already hot air from the first GPU to the second.

The stock Radeon HD 3870 X2 video card has two 55-nanometer graphics cores running at 725 MHz with the memory clocked at 2250 MHz. The Asus R.O.G. editions come with a GPU core clock of 825 MHz and 1800 MHz for the GDDR3 memory.

This is not all the graphics cards are up to. The EAH3870X2 series comes with the EMI shield, an interference reduction shield that improves the stability of provided signals. Moreover, the new DIP Spring Chokes technology keeps the temperature of the chokes 5 to 10 Celsius degrees lower than the traditional Toroidal Coil Chokes. The on-board capacitors are made in Japan using high-quality polymers in order to prevent them from leaking under higher voltage (especially during overclocking).

The graphics cards come bundled with the Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts, should you wish to perform a quick test of your new purchase. Although you should not doubt the powers of the fastest card on Earth.
