Asus has announced that they have integrated an analog phone to Skype adapter into their motherboard line and that such adapters will be included with M2N and P5B TeleSky motherboards. With the adapters, users can use their analog phones by plugging them in the Skype adapter in the same way a Skype phone is being used. The adapter translates the analogic signal into the Skype VoIP service and you get to make cheap or sometimes even free calls to friends and relatives.

The adapter connects to the USB port on the Asus motherboard and has two RJ-11 jacks which can be wired to an analogical telephone device. You can even choose to use a wireless phone since the adapter supports both classical and wireless phones. As a bonus for buying a motherboard with a Skype adapter, Asus gives away 60 minutes of SkypeOut for free.

Skype seems to be a very popular VoIP-like software with millions of users worldwide. The service allows people to make free phone calls from one computer to another. And in case you love Skype so much you need to use it outside the internet, there's always SkypeOut protocol that lets users call any landline or GSM/CDMA phone. Although SkypeOut is not free, it generally costs less than any comparable service since calling in another country goes as low as a few cents per minute.

Asus hasn't released any information regarding the price or the availability of its products but they pointed out the fact that Skype adapters will be shipping with the motherboards for a small period of time. So if you're planning to get one for yourself, you'd better hurry!
