While the Transformer Prime still wasn’t released in the retail market, Asus has some high hopes for its quad-core tablet as by the end of the year it expects to ship over 350,000 units.

The number might not be as impressive as those we're used to seeing from Apple’s iPad, but this is nonetheless important considering that we are dealing with an Android tablet built by a Taiwanese manufacturer.

Asus is in fact so confident in its estimates that it has even contracted a new touch panel module supplier for the Prime, according to Digitimes.

Together with the first edition of the tablet, Asus expects the total shipments of Transformer devices to top 1.8-2 million units.

The Transformer Prime will go on sale in December of this year, but it is already available for pre-order from a series of Websites in the US, Canada and Europe with prices starting at $492 (363.5 EUR).
