At a recent press event held in China, Asus has detailed its plans for 2011 in the ultra-portable computing space and, according to the company's officials, this year will mark the introduction of no less than three light-weight and low-profile mobile computing devices.

All the three devices were presented during the Computex 2011 fair, and the first one to arrive is the EeePC X101 which will include a single core 1.33GHz Intel Atom N435 low voltage processor and a 10-inch screen.

These will be paired with an SSD drive and a six-cell battery pack, while users will have the option of choosing between the MeeGo and Windows 7 operating systems. Prices will start at $199 and $310, respectively.

In September, this will be followed by a second ultra-portable EeePC netbook that will be called the Asus Eee PC 1025.

This will be available in two versions, one sporting an N2600 and the other an N2800 Cedarview Atom processor, but both share the same outer case made of a metal-like polycarbonate and the 10-inch 1024x600 resolution screen.

Depending on the configuration chosen, pricing will start at $249 and the netbook can include up to 3GB of DDR3 memory and a 6-cell battery pack.

Finally, the last Asus ultra-portable to arrive is the UX Series, which is comprised out of the 11.6-inch UX21 and the 13-inch UX31.

Both of these notebooks sport almost the same configuration and are built around Intel's latest-generation low-voltage Sandy Bridge processors which are paired together with 64GB or 128GB SATA 6Gbps solid state drives.

All of these are housed inside a thin and light anodized aluminum uni-body chassis that measures no more than 17mm at its thickest point. The keyboard and touchpad were also designed to accentuate the style of the unit, as the former comes with all aluminum keys, while the latter is made out of glass.

The price of the 11.6-inch UX21 is expected to stay under the $1000 mark. (via Notebook Italia)
