The development team at Ubisoft working on the multiplayer side of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag says that it is trying to create an experience that’s focused on the quality of the kills that a player creates rather than on how many enemies he takes out.

Tim Browne, the leading designer for the mode, says on the official company blog that accessibility is very important and that tutorials have been introduced in order to make sure that players know exactly what tactics are working.

He states, “At a base level Assassin’s Creed multiplayer is not about the amount of kills, it’s about the quality of the kills. The second tutorial focuses on that, so I recommend running through it. It will teach you how to get higher scores on kills.”

Ubisoft is also adding a set of ability videos that allow all gamers to see exactly how they should be employed for the best possible effect.

Browne believes that team play is also a good way for newcomers to familiarize themselves with the mechanics of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag multiplayer.

He adds, “If you enter a game where you’re playing as part of a team and you’ve got a good player on your team and a good player on the other team, you’re going to learn from watching them play. Play all the different modes.”

Familiarity with all the abilities and all the included maps is also a requirement for those who truly want to remain competitive in the long term.

Unfortunately, the Ubisoft team does not have the resources required to make sure that naval battles also work in multiplayer.

Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag will be launched in late October on current-gen consoles and those who want to play on the PC, the Wii U, the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4 will get the game in late November.
