Ubisoft might implement the system in future titles

The team working on Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag at Ubisoft says that it plans to heavily involve the community in the process of evaluating all missions included in the title in order to create better gameplay for future titles.

The service will be called Rate This Mission and will allow players to offer a star rating out of five after they have completed sequences of the game.

It will be entirely optional, although if more gamers take part, their opinions will be better represented.

Sylvain Trottier, an associate producer working on the game, tells Eurogamer that, “It’s an idea that came out of discussions between our creative director Jean Guesdon and our executive producer Sébastien Puel. It was implemented early in the production, more than one year ago. It’s also being used during our playtest sessions to gather the player’s feedback.”

He adds, “It’s a way for our players to tell us directly whether they liked or not the mission. It’s a survey if you prefer. It will help us know which missions are the favourites and which one people like less.”

Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag represents the first time when a team at Ubisoft has been given free hand to try such a feature.

The developer says that if Rate a Mission is successful, it might appear in other titles created by the publisher so that more fan feedback can be extracted.

The new title in the long-running franchise takes gamers to the Caribbean and allows them to enjoy improved naval battle mechanics while also giving them a chance to explore the cities of the area and the wilderness around them.

Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag will be launched on the Xbox 360, the Wii U from Nintendo and the PlayStation 3 on October 29 in the United States and on November 1 in Europe.
