Less repetitiveness

Assassin's Creed was one of 2007's most interesting titles, as it introduced some very interesting gameplay mechanics and placed an emphasis on exploring and knowing everything before you attempted an assassination during the Crusades of the 1100s.

But sadly the game was quite repetitive, as the main character, Altair, was forced to commit a certain amount of assassinations and before this, needed to do three very repetitive tasks: either intimidate, pick-pocket or eavesdrop. Although they were quite interesting, after a few hours it became a bit weary.

But Assassin's Creed 2 will solve all of these problems, because it will have a much more varied gameplay, promises Ubisoft's Sebastien Puel, who talked with NowGamer about the sequel to the popular title. He revealed that there would be no limit to the type of challenges that players would have, guaranteeing a great experience.

“We are now telling a story in a way that is intended to be very unpredictable,” Puel said. “There are no more ‘x assassinations’ to perform but a story that develops through a great amount of mission givers. Some will give you an assassination mission, others an intimidation or information-gathering mission. There is no limit now to the types of challenges we can give to players. We are very careful to create a lot of variation in the types of gameplay and pace we are proposing.”

Puel also tackled the combat system from the original game, which received complaints because it was too simple and, yet again, repetitive. “The combat system is based on the first game, but with much more possibilities and strategy behind every encounter. Players won’t be able to simply button mash, killing guard after guard. There will be more thinking involved due to the new different guard archetypes and weapons; you will have to strategically plan your every move.”
