Mac gamers, prepare for battle! Borderlands 2 will be smashing its way onto Macs November 20, Aspyr Media has confirmed, in partnership with 2K Games and Gearbox Software.

The sequel to a successful four-player cooperative shooter-looter that combined first-person gameplay with role-playing elements, Borderlands 2 was developed by Gearbox Software and ported to the Mac by none other than Aspyr Media.

The game features all-new characters, skills, new environments with unique missions and enemies, new weapons to cause even more mayhem, and more equipment and loot than you ever dreamed of, according to the publishers.

According to Aspyr, “All of these features come together in a story that takes players to the world of Pandora to take down the notorious Handsome Jack and his corrupt Hyperion Corporation as a solo campaign or with up to four cooperative players.”

The online multiplayer mode will support drop-in-drop-out and, for those who like to do their shooting using a controller, Borderlands 2 supports the Xbox 360 wired gamepad only, according to the specs sheet.

You’ll require an Intel Mac with a Core 2 Duo processor clocked at 2.2 GHz, 4 gigs of memory, 13 GB of storage, OS X 10.7.5 (Lion) or 10.8.2 (Mountain Lion), and NVIDIA GeForce 8800, ATI Radeon HD 2600, or Intel HD 3000 with 256 MB of video memory.

Ted Staloch, vice president of Aspyr Mediam, says “Aspyr prides itself on bringing the best in gaming to the Mac audience. Borderlands 2 is definitely among the best.”

“Most sequels have a hard time living up to the first, but Borderlands 2 manages to improve on every cool aspect of Borderlands, and still finds a way to wrap the player up in a new story with a new experience,” Staloch adds.

Borderlands 2 is immediately available for pre-order from Aspyr’s GameAgent portal.
