The pilot's vision was not impaired, he was not blinded by light

The investigation into the Asiana Airlines crash at San Francisco International Airport will not be centered on the pilot being blinded upon the descent.

As I wrote, Deborah Hersman, chairwoman of the National Transportation Safety Board, informed about the pilot having trouble with a “bright light.”

She has clarified that it did not impair his vision, as he could see the controls on the plane. It was probably a reflection of the sun on the water, USA Today relayed. He was flying at 500 feet (152 meters) in the air at the time.

"The light source was straight in front of the airplane but not on the runway. [...] He stated that he did not think the light affected his vision," Hersman details.

She adds that neither of the pilots has mentioned the light initially because they did not suspect that it affected the flight.
