This 230 feet (70 m) mural in Busan, South Korea was painted by German artist Hendrik Beikirch. The mural of a 60-year-old fisherman is meant to remind inhabitants of the busy city of Busan about their roots.

Busan, once a small fishing town, is now lined with skyscrapers, and its financial district is a place where millions are made. The Haeundae I’Park skyscraper complex towers in the background.

The mural illustrates the contrast in social and economic status between the brokers working in the city and the fishermen still living off what they catch, in the docks.

“Where there is no struggle, there is no strength,” the inscription at the bottom of the mural reads. Beikirch painted the entire piece by hand, the Architizer reports.
