As propositioners of DOMA and Proposition 8 in California lose their day in court, Sen. Rand Paul states that people will now be free to marry non-humans.

"If we have no laws on this, people take it … one extension further. Does it have to be humans?" the Kentucky Republican lawmaker expresses.

His statement is insulting to the LGBT community and those outside it. On the one hand, it suggest that gay people are not human, while on the other it mentions that misguided people lacking in Medieval legislation guarding marriage rules will go around wedding their dogs.

According to Raw Story, he has also mentioned that having children out of wedlock most often leads to lack of morality and poverty.
