Art can present itself in many shapes, but this particular way a Spanish artist chose to express himself is both amazing and bizarre. He pushed the canvas, paint and brush aside, and started creating the portraits of his loved ones in the palm of his hand, with a needle and colored threads.

David Cata, from Veriero, Spain, began to use his body as his canvas and started stitching the portraits of his family, friends, girlfriend. The amazing form of art is illustrated in his project Overexposed Emotions and shows how the 21-year-old student carefully creates and then picks the stitches out of his palm.

One single portrait take hours to complete and the young artist repeats the process over and over again creating detailed representations of the people close to his heart, who have influenced him in time. David admits that the whole creation process doesn't hurt because he just pierces through the superficial layer of the skin, but even if it hurt, he would still continue.

The palms of his hands are always scared and the outline of each removed portrait is visible until the skin heals back. “Every person we meet makes us in some way. Their image projects onto us, reminding us where we come from. By sewing into the palm of my hand I paint the faces of the people that have left their mark on my life: family, friends, partners, teachers,” David says, according to Daily Mail.

The creative artist is trying to express how his life has been interwoven with others' experiences and together built something different. He created the portrait of his brother, parents, grandparents, his girlfriend, best friend, favorite teacher, and other people he saw worthy to scar his palms for.

The detail of the representations is incredible, and it's easy to notice that most work is put into the eyes and mouths. Even if the superficial scars sometimes involve more healing time and even blood, David says that for him pain is not a boundary and that the people in his life deserve all that he can give.
