Dell is once again preparing to expand its laptop lineup, and while it has not exactly issued any press release, a leak has revealed that two Studio XPS mobile computers will soon grace the market with their high-end specifications.

As one may or may not expect, the Intel Calpella platform is the one that lies at the base of the configurations of the upcoming laptops, the Studio XPS 15 and XPS 17.

The report responsible for this revelation managed to spell out more or less the entire specification sets for both machines.

Apparently, they will be quite well equipped to deal with any sort of tasks, from basic computing and web browsing to Full HD multimedia playback and even gaming, depending on what GPU one select.

Apparently, both of the mobile computers are powered by high-end Intel Core i7 central processing units and have similar connectivity and I/O options.

On the other hand, their memory and storage capacities clearly make them stand apart from each other, though both have high quantities of each.

The Studio XPS 17 has up to 16GB of RAM and two hard disk drives, for up to 1.2 TB of storage, while the video memory of the GeForce graphics card can top to 3GB.

The Studio XPS 15 has a maximum of 'only' 8GB of RAM, a hard disk of 750 GB and 2GB for the graphics card.

As for I/O and web connectivity, Dell threw in the obligatory Gigabit Ethernet, Bluetooth, WiFi, a HDMI 1.4 output and, quite importantly, USB 3.0 ports.

Finally, both come with JBL speakers and will make their appearance either by the end of October or early on during November.

Unfortunately, as is often the case with unofficial leaks and reports, there is, at this time, no sort of information on what the products will actually cost.
