The Super Bowl isn’t only the most watched sporting event in television, but it’s also a huge source of revenue for both organizers and advertisers. The latter’s investment in the ads that run during the game is also up to the importance of the event, often reaching absurdly high amounts for just 30 second of video.

Many advertisers pay even $4 million (€2.9 million) for a 30-second commercial and that’s only the tip of the iceberg where their investment is concerned. For the Super Bowl ads, usually only the most well-known faces will do and, obviously, nothing serves better than celebrities.

Arnold Schwarzenegger, former Mister Universe, former politician extraordinaiare (ex Governor of California) and actor, for instance, has already made a very profitable deal to appear in one such ad – and it will be making him about $3 million (€2.2 million) richer. Not that Arnie doesn’t already have an impressive fortune amassed, but one could always use the extra money.

Page Six reports that Schwarzenegger was approached by Bud Light for an ad for their beer and, though he has a “personal focus on health and fitness,” he agreed to do it.

“Arnold has shot a series of ads in Japan [a trick used by celebs who want to cash in but without looking greedy at home] but pretty much hasn’t done anything in the US. Persuading him to promote a beer is a big coup for Bud Light,” an insider reveals for the publication.

The commercial in question will be a humorous one, the tipster reveals, but doesn’t offer any details as to the plot. Many Super Bowl ads go down the funny route, which makes sense if you think about it: they’re run during the game and they’re meant to be as entertaining as possible. Some of the funniest and most original ads come out of the Super Bowl.

Speaking of which, Page Six also has the details of other endorsement deals celebrities have struck for this year’s game: Laurence Fishburne will be back as Morpheus from “Matrix” for Kia Motors’ K900 luxury sedan, Stephen Colbert will do a Wonderful Pistachios ad, GoDaddy will be back with Danica Patrick, while David Beckham will be releasing more eye-candy for his H&M underwear line.
