Ubisoft has announced that it aims to publish Armored Core: For Answer on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Developing duties on the title are handled by From Software and the series' tradition of pitting giant robots against? giant robots will continue.

Kenan Alpay, who is an associate producer at Ubisoft, gave Gamespot the first details on the game. It seems that the focus will be on "creating and customizing giant robots, and then going toe-to-toe against colossal, destructive battle stations". This, in a nutshell, is a perfect description of all the Armored Core titles. And, trust me, there are a lot of them. Depending on which ones you count as being part of the series, there are around 13 games that tell the story of a never ending conflict between factions that employ giant mechas as the means to settle any dispute.

The twist of the upcoming title, called Armored Core: For Answer, will be that the big robots will have, at some point, to face even bigger battle stations called Arma Forts, which are set to be almost invulnerable and will likely require various strategies and Luke-versus-Death Star aiming at skills to destroy. Another interesting addition to the game is a faction system, where the player can choose to perform certain tasks which bring him closer to one in-game power while attracting the hatred of others.

As all the games in the series, For Answer will be heavily customized, with Alpay saying that it will have "new types of existing weapons, such as new shotguns, missiles, energy weapons, and blades. But there are also brand-new weapons and some interesting new parts, like auxiliary boost jets that increase your mobility and are ideal for hit-and-run attacks", making for a grand total of 130 parts which can be mixed and matched to create the perfect fighting machine.

For Answer will most likely arrive in the United States sometime in late September, if all goes according to plan, for the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3. In the meantime, you can check out our cheats section to find all the secrets of the other 13 games in the Armored Core series.
