Bohemia Interactive and IDEA Games have put out the 1.05 patch for the military simulator ArmA 2, introducing a slew of improvements and bug fixes and also adding a new single player experience for all those who enjoy the game.

The developers are saying that the patch is compatible with all versions of the game, including the one delivered through Steam. The patch was eagerly expected by the player community, mainly because ArmA 2 had quite a few bugs in the initial release, which frustrated a lot of gamers.

The 1.05 patch will introduce some major changes to the Artificial Intelligence to both the allies of the player and to the enemies, making them more aware of their surroundings and more capable of laying down suppressive fire and flanking a target.

The people at Bohemia Interactive are also promising performance improvements on all gaming machines, especially when the player is in an urban environment, and better compatibility with operating systems like Vista and Windows 7 when at least 8 GB of RAM are present.

The patch also makes changes to the way the hit detection system works, improves the viewing distance and the way input from the mouse is handled by the game. It also makes it easier for player-made content to be implemented in the game and to set up aspects of ArmA 2.

Together with the patch, Bohemia Interactive has also introduced a new single player mini campaign called Eagle Wing, which puts the player in the combat boots of the pilot of an AH-64D Apache attack helicopter as they need to act fact as the cold war between Russia and the United States turns hot. The new helicopter can also be used in player-made scenarios and is modeled as close to possible on the real weapon.
