Android 4.4 KitKat, the latest flavor of Google’s mobile operating system, is already present on the market on a series of devices, though only one of them was launched with the platform loaded on top right from the start, namely the Nexus 5.

Next year, however, we should see some more smartphones hitting shelves with KitKat on top from the get-go, as handset vendors are refreshing their lineups with new, more powerful and more appealing devices.

Specific details on what 2014 will bring to the smartphone market in terms of hardware have yet to be provided, but that doesn’t mean that users cannot dream of the phones that will be.

In fact, enthusiasts took it on their own to come up with a concept phone that runs Android 4.4 KitKat. They also posted the creation on Deviantart under the name of Ark Phone.

The smartphone has an appealing outer design (it looks incredibly thin), along with powerful hardware inside, though none of its specifications will blow your socks off, that’s for sure.

According to the designer, the Ark Phone features a 2.5GHz quad-core processor inside, complemented by a decent 3GB of RAM. No info on the screen size and resolution has been provided.

Furthermore, the handset features 32GB of internal memory, along with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity capabilities, NFC receiver, and support for 4G networks.

As one would expect, the smartphone also features a microSD memory card slot. Moreover, it packs dual-SIM support, so as to provide users with increased flexibility.

One thing that is missing from the list of specifications is a camera, though we could imagine it featuring a 20MP sensor on the back, the same as Xperia Z1 does, or an UltraPixel camera, similar to that on HTC’s recent phones in the One lineup.

All in all, this concept device could easily turn a few heads if it ever landed on shelves. However, there’s little chance that this will actually happen, and we’re only left dreaming of it.
