The bodies of the 19 firefighters killed while trying to put out a wildfire in Yarnell have been recovered from the mountainous area.
According to ABC News, they were taken to the Maricopa County Medical Examiner's Office on Monday, July 1.
As I reported, the men who died were all members of the Granite Mountain Hotshot Crew from Prescott, Arizona.
A single member of the team survived, and the youngest serviceman dying in the fire was only 21 years old.
Arizona Governer Jan Brewer has said in a statement that this is the deadliest tragedy to hit Fire Department agents since 9/11.
"For now, we mourn. Consider this: The fire claimed more lives than any single disaster since 9/11. [...] Just as we remembered the brave men who ran into the twin towers, we will also remember the men of the Granite Mountain Hotshots," he says.
