Arctic, a manufacturer that is well renowned for its quiet cooling solutions, has just announced that it has finished developing a compact multimedia computer that is running Windows 7 and is expected to launch by the end of the month.

Arctic hasn't provided any details about the specifications of the device apart from the fact that it will measure 1.5 liters in volume and that it will run the Windows 7 operating system.

However, considering the small size of the unit and its intended role, it is very likely that this will be powered by one of AMD's accelerated processing units (APUs) built on the Brazos core or by an Intel Atom CPU paired with Nvidia Ion graphics.

From the picture provided by Arctic, we can also conclude that the MC001 multimedia PC will come with an optical drive, probably a Blu-ray combo unit.

Right next to this drive, Arctic has placed a pair of USB ports, a multi-format card reader, headphone out and mic in jacks and the unit's Power button. The Arctic MC001 compact computer also seems to sport a front panel webcam.

“Arctic's first Multimedia PC provides the ultimate home entertainment. Enjoy HD resolution movie, organize your photos, maintain social networks, or watch TV and record your favorite show – all in one device.

“With its multi-room capability, MC001 will entertain the whole family. Everybody can listen to their music or radio station in the room of choice while a movie plays in the living room,” reads the company's official statement.

No details regarding pricing are available at the moment, but, as mentioned earlier, the Arctic MC001 multimedia PC is expected to be launched at the end of May. (via KitGuru)
