For higher levels of performance

Despite the fact that NVIDIA has managed to claim the highest performance spot with the launch of its GeFroce GTX295 graphics card, AMD's dual-GPU Radeon HD4870X2 is still one card that is to be taken very seriously. This could be one of the reasons why Swiss cooling products maker Arctic Cooling announced today the Accelero XTREME cooling solution designed to provide support to all those Radeon HD 4870X2 graphics card users. Developed as a massive, three-fan equipped GPU cooler, the new solution from Arctic Cooling will allow technology enthusiasts to further increase the speed of their Radeon HD 4870X2 cards, pushing the card's performance levels.

According to the company, the new Accelero EXTREME has been specifically designed for the ATI Radeon HD 4870X2, offering the best cooling solution for this high-end graphics card. The cooler is equipped with two 92mm PWM fans, running at 1,000 to 2,000 RPM, just enough to generate 81 CFM airflow, enabling users to take advantage of a card that can provide a cool working environment. According to the company, the result of using the new cooler is a GPU that runs at a temperature of 50 degrees Celsius lower than with a stock cooler. This will ultimately improve the life of the GPU, but also enable some serious overclocking.

The new GPU cooler is similar to the recently released Accelero Xtreme for NVIDIA's GTX 280, also designed to increase the performance of NVIDIA's former highest-performance card. The Accelero XTREME 4870X2 comes with a six-year limited warranty and will be available by the end of March, this year, for a MSRP of US$68.30 and 53.95€ (excluding VAT).

The Accelero XTREME for ATI's 4870X2 should be an optimum solution for those high-end users that push the limits of their hardware components, enabling higher levels of performance.
