Santa Clara, California-based Intel is expected to announce a series of new processors that will provide users with more affordable computer processors designed on the company's latest Nehalem microarchitecture. Part of the chip maker's up-and-coming line of Core i5 processors, these new chips will require users to upgrade to an upcoming Intel platform, which will use a new Socket 1156. On that note, Swiss cooling solution provider ARTIC COOLING has recently announced the introduction of its new Alpine 11 series, designed to provide computer users with support for both socket 775 and the upcoming 1156.

According to the company's press release, the Core i5 processors are expected to debut in the third quarter of this year, which means users will soon be able to upgrade to the latest Intel platform. With the release of the new Alpine 11 series, Intel fans will be provided with support for the current Core 2 Duo and Core 2 Quad processors, as well as the upcoming Core i5 models. These new additions to the company's CPU cooling lineup can provide users with a future-proof solution.

The new series is made out of three different models, the Alpine 11 Pro, Alpine 11 and Alpine 11 GT, each one designed to deliver a different level of performance, targeted at the various Core i5 models that will be launched in Q3. While the Alpine 11 GT and Alpine 11 are designed for mainstream performance, the Alpine 11 Pro is meant to deliver enhanced performance to power users. The Alpine 11 and Alpine 11 GT are featured with 92mm and 80mm fans, capable of delivering a maximum cooling capacity of 90 Watts and 70 Watts, respectively.

The last of the three also boasts a 92mm PWM-controlled fan and has a maximum cooling capacity of 95 watts. It delivers a reported air flow of 36.7 CFM and operates at between 500 and 2000RPM. The three coolers are priced at US$8, US$10.25 and US$14.35, respectively.
